HOT GLASS Is a 4000 year old art form. Briefly the chemistry of glass is silica. sand, flint and quartz are all soures of silica. When the silica is mixed with a flux like soda or potash it will melt at 900 -1000 Centigrade ( 1900 - 2300 Farenheit) and then we have molten glass. Today we are using the same tools as they have for centuries, partly because they are so simple that they allow little improvement. However each glass arist tries out new ideas to make the glass (art) look different his/hers way. I try to mix glass with other materials and colors to make it look ME.
